Supernatural Scoop: Is Teen Dean to Your Liking?

Following this Thursday’s episode, the CW’s Supernatural (like sister show Smallville) is taking a several-week break, returning with new episodes on or around Jan. 15. That’s the bad news. The good news is that shortly after the series comes back, fans will get a big treat: a teenaged Dean. And filling Jensen Ackles’ shoes for the flashback will be Brock Kelly, TVGuide.com has learned. In “After School Special,” which is slated to air Jan. 29, Supernatural will offer a peek at the brothers’ high-school days, with a tentative Sam not looking forward to facing another new social circle as he and Dean are uprooted again by their demon-chasing dad. Luckily, Dean finds time away from necking with a local gal to watch his picked-on kid bro’s back. Opposite Kelly, Colin Ford will portray young Sam – just as he did in last season’s “A Very Supernatural Christmas.” (A barely teenaged Ridge Canipe tackled Dean back then). This time around, though, Ford will play a few years older than his actual age, while Kelly will close the gap by playing younger than his actual twenty-some years. Brock’s previous credits include a handful of Days of Our Lives episodes (as “Josh”) and two appearances on last season’s short-lived Viva Laughlin. What say you, the Supernatural jury: A good fit?...

Interview: Supernatural Star Goes to Camp Blood

There was a time when Jason Voorhees almost wandered in an America where Supernatural’s Winchester brothers, Sam and Dean, existed. This potential cross-over of the Friday the 13th universe and the world of the CW’s surprisingly good series was teased within the pages of the official Supernatural magazine. As the series’ third season revved up, it became clear a battle between the Winchesters and Jason was not going to happen after all. That’s not to say star Jared Padalecki was never bound to have a run in at Camp Blood with horror’s hulking mama’s boy. “I finally get to fight him,” the actor says with a smile. He’s sitting with ShockTillYouDrop.com on the set of Platinum Dunes’ Friday the 13th (full set report) lensing in Texas. “I had heard from a few places that they talked about it on the show. They never brought it up with [co-star] Jensen [Ackles] or myself, so it was either writer ideas or fan ideas or something, but it would’ve been fun. But now I get to do it on the big screen.” In this brawl, who gets the upper hand? Well, minutes earlier Derek Mears, the new Jason Voorhees, told us, “I’m going to be stomping Jared’s face very soon.” Judging by Padalecki’s reaction when we press him for details on the scene we’re watching tonight, Mears isn’t wrong. “This is in the heat of the climactic fight/end chase sequence. I’m not fighting as much as I am getting my ass kicked,” Padalecki laughs. “But [Amanda Righetti and I are] on the run, as it happens in Friday the 13th movies, and we’re trying to get away from the scary guy in the hockey mask. He comes up on us and catches us unawares. Makes me into a little pile of mince meat, which is fine.” Don’t worry, the scene was well...

Supernatural Sexclusive: Is Sam “Doing It” with a Demon?

Supernatural fans need to know: Is Sam hooking up with his demon helper, Ruby? Series creator Erik Kripke might be mum on the subject, but Jared Padalecki was willing to give us the scoop. “They have been lovers,” Sam’s portrayer spills. “From the first episode this season, when Dean returns and Ruby (now played by Genevieve Cortese) is in her underwear and Sam is coming out of the bathroom, it’s hinted that Sam and Ruby have a little bit more going on than, ‘Hey, let’s study how to kill demons.’ They’ve… dabbled.” Padalecki laughs, then adds, “They have their needs.” So… Demons like to do the dirty? “I guess so,” Padalecki ventures. “Or maybe she’s just being nice to Sammy, since he thought he lost his brother.” Hey, at least one of these hunky hunters is getting his due....
