Supernatural’s Jared Padalecki To Star As Conan The Barbarian

According to a report from Just Jared, Supernatural and Friday the 13th star Jared Padalecki is one of three finalists to possibly take on the role of Conan in a remake of the original film. Kellan Lutz (Twilight Saga) and Jason Momoa (Stargate: Atlantis, Baywatch) are the other two actors in the running. A decision is likely to be made soon as the start of shooting is scheduled for March 15th 2010. Supernatural creator Eric Kripke is yet to confirm whether a sixth season of his hit show Supernatural (also starring Jensen Ackles) will be made, or whether the show will finish as was originally planned, in it’s fifth season, which is airing now on CW in the US. Marcus Nispel will direct the Conan reboot, who previously worked with Jared on the recent Friday the 13th...

Jared Padalecki and Genevieve Cortese Are Engaged

Sorry, Sam girls. Reps for Jared Padalecki confirm to us exclusively that the rumors are true, and he is engaged to marry former Supernatural costar Genevieve Cortese. Padalecki plays Sam Winchester on the CW’s cult-hit series about a pair of demon-hunting brothers on a destiny run; Cortese appeared on the fourth season of the series as the second embodiment of the comely but eeeevil demon Ruby. (Melrose Place star Katie Cassidy played Ruby’s first iteration.) The couple, whose characters shared some superhot sex scenes and a dysfunctional but intense relationship during their time together on the show, have been dating very, very stealthily. Padalecki’s reps declined to confirm Internet reports of a late-winter wedding date. Jensen Ackles, who plays Padalecki’s onscreen older brother Dean Winchester, got engaged in fall 2009 to Danneel Harris....

‘Supernatural’: Sexy. Scary. Over?

In the intense universe of fandom surrounding Supernatural – the CW series that follows the chisel-jawed Winchester brothers as they drive around the country snuffing out demons – there are ”Sam girls” and ”Dean girls.” Websites chronicle every scrap of minutiae (including the fellas’ sweet ride, a ’67 Chevy Impala), and bloggers dig around casting directors’ sites looking for snippets of scenes to post online (they’ve even managed to spoil entire scripts). There’s also a unique and very creepy subset of romantic fan fiction dedicated to siblings Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) called ”Wincest” – the less said about it the better. One creative fan actually showed up on set in an orange vest, pretending to be a production assistant. ”They gave her a walkie-talkie!” recalls Ackles. ”She worked the entire day there until somebody finally figured it out. Obviously now they’ve stepped up the protocol.” Meaning, the stars have a bodyguard when they’re working. Says Padalecki, ”I guess the network or the studio said, ‘We [only] have two guys on this show. We’d better protect them.”’ It might be time to beef up the security detail even more, because the Supernatural cult is swelling. Sure, the show may not crack the top 10, or even the top 80 – ”You go to a dinner party and someone asks you what show you work on and you say ‘Supernatural,’ and they’ve never heard of it,” says creator/exec producer Eric Kripke. ”Then they say, ‘What network is it on?’ and you say ‘The CW,’ and they’ve never heard of it” – but lately it’s been making almost otherworldly gains in viewership. Season 4, which has centered on the brothers battling angels as well as their usual demon enemies, is up an impressive 13 percent over last year, with new episodes averaging 3.3 million viewers a week – and...

Supernatural Rocks at the LA Creation Con

It was the Creation Con’s Salute to Supernatural Los Angeles 09 and a great time was had by all. There were so many terrific guests that it would take me weeks to tell you everything that happened and all that was said, so for now, I’m going to stick to the highlight of the weekend, Jared, Jensen and Misha. Jensen took the stage first looking relaxed and handsome in a loose, blueish-grey button-down shirt and jeans. Though the show had technically wrapped for the season, he said he still had one more scene to shoot in Vancouver the next day so he was working on little sleep. Still, he was nothing but fun and animated and seemed to really enjoy spending those few hours with all of us wild and crazy fans. There was an enormous amount of laughter (especially when Jared joined him on stage) but there were some poignant moments, too. When asked to tell a story about Jared, Jensen chose to list his friend’s best qualities including a deep passion and loyalty to his family, friends and of course, his dogs. But all of our hearts really went out when he began to talk about the recently departed Kim Manners. Jensen was asked about a bandage that can be seen on his forearm in Lazarus Rising. He said that Kim, who directed the episode, always liked to keep it as real as possible, so instead of using candy glass in the windows of the convenience store he wanted to use real glass so it would shatter properly when the angel’s voice envelopes Dean. Jensen said his stunt double bore most of the brunt of the flying glass but he himself was not spared. He had to “fall” into frame to make the transition from stunt double to him and his forearm came down on a piece...
