If you are in the last category, we can certainly help you out. Why should you watch Supernatural, when you could be testing out your new phone, or playing a cheeky game of bingo instead? Well, we’ll list a few reasons for you below. You want to make an informed decision, after all.

The cure for Twilight

Many Supernatural fans are partial to Twilight too, but our vampires are considerably grittier, scarier and thirstier. They don’t sparkle when they are under direct sunlight either, and are far more reminiscent of what we expect from them. Only with their own individuality.

The monsters

Do you enjoy getting creeped out by scary TV and movies? Then you’ll love Supernatural. Nothing is ever as it seems. Many of the seasons focus on demons, but the monsters have come back since season six, and they aren’t predictable. Think Djinns, vampires and shape shifters. Eeek!

Comedy

Admittedly, there is a lot of angst in the narrative, but this is broken up by plenty of laughs. The wit is sharp and on point every episode, and the show has the uncanny ability to make you giggle one moment, and cower the next.

The soundtrack

No joke, this show has THE best soundtrack. Classic rock is the genre of choice on Supernatural, and it serves to give the show a lot of credibility. If you are a fan of Led Zeppelin, or AC/DC, then you’ve found your TV show of choice.

DOUBLE THE WINCHESTERS, DOUBLE THE FUN — Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) are once again on the FBI’s “Most Wanted” list when two Leviathans clone the brothers and go on a killing spree. The subject of a nationwide manhunt, Sam and Dean need to drop off the grid so Bobby (Jim Beaver) sends them to Frank Deveraux (guest star Kevin R. McNally), a quirky surveillance expert, for help. Meanwhile, Bobby continues to search for a way to kill the Levianthans, or at least slow them down, so the real Winchesters can stop their evil doppelgangers. John Showalter directed the episode written by Robbie Thompson (#706).

“Shut Up, Dr. Phil” (TV-14, DLV) (HDTV)

“BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER” ALUMS CHARISMA CARPENTER AND JAMES MARSTERS GUEST STAR — Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) meet Maggie Stark (guest star Charisma Carpenter), a witch who has unleashed her wrath on a small town, resulting in numerous deaths. Sam and Dean track down her husband, Donald (guest star James Marsters), to see if he can help. Donald tells the brothers that Maggie is mad at him for having an affair and is taking it out on the townspeople. Phil Sgriccia directed the episode written by Brad Buckner & Eugenie Ross-Leming (#705).

“Defending Your Life” (TV-14, LV) (HDTV)

DEAN IS PUT ON TRIAL FOR HIS PAST SINS — Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) investigate a string of gruesome murders and discover the Egyptian god Osiris (guest star Faran Tahir) is behind the deaths. The vengeful god is putting people on trial for their past mistakes and killing them if found guilty. Osiris hones in on Dean’s guilt and decides he’s the next to stand trial. Sam steps in as Dean’s lawyer, but both brothers are unprepared when Osiris calls an unexpected witness – Jo (guest star Alona Tal). Robert Singer directed the episode written by Adam Glass (#704).

SAM HAS FLASHBACKS FROM HELL – Castiel (Misha Collins) continues to struggle with the burdens that come with his new-fangled power. The broken wall in Sam’s (Jared Padalecki) head causes him to have hallucinations, and he has difficulty discerning what’s real and what’s not. Bobby (Jim Beaver) worries that Dean is beginning to stumble under the weight of fighting Castiel and keeping an eye on Sam. Guy Bee directed the episode written by Ben Edlund (#703).

When we asked Misha about his future aspirations for writing, he told us he had actually written a pitch for an episode ofSupernatural, but that they had decided not to use it. We may never know what Misha had in-store for the Winchester boys… but maybe he’ll get another chance in the future!

In promotion of the Season 6 DVD release of Supernatural, if given the choice – would you choose your own sibling to help you in this battle or would you choose someone else? Let us know why!

I definitely think that having the show be about two brothers who are fighting the world of supernatural together creates a stronger bond to the characters. So much of the series has been about family, and that’s part of why we feel so connected to the characters. Even if our own siblings wouldn’t be there to save the day like Sam or Dean – we think that sibling bond is what makes the series so awesome – of course that’s all the writers right there!

So who would we want next to us in battle? Probably Sam or Dean. But that’s just us…

Family has always been an important theme to the Winchesters, so it’s not surprising that Dean would have a paternal side, at least not in my opinion. I’d really love to see more of that on the show actually. While I love the relationship that the brothers have with one another – I think outside relationships such as romance would be an interesting new angle for the show to explore.
