A little bit about Alex

Alex Ferris is a young Canadian actor born on April 23, 1997 in Vancouver, British Columbia. With more than 15 films, 14 television shows, and two Young Artists Award nominations (for his role as “Victor” in THE INVISIBLE in 2008 and for his voice work in 2009 on MARTHA SPEAKS) under his belt, Alex has become one of the most watched young actors in the entertainment industry. The typical child actor usually begins their career with commercials, theatre, and singing or dancing, however Alex is far from the norm. Driven by his love for the business aspect of the industry, fascinated by directors, producers, film budgets and locations, Alex’s story begins here.

In the spring of 2004 while on vacation in Hawaii, Alex met a new friend while playing on the beach. Alex was a few weeks shy of his 7th birthday, a star first grader, with a budding vocabulary and intelligence putting him way beyond his age. After playing with the little boy for a while, Alex ran up to his mother and said, “Mom, why am I not an actor?” She soon found out that the friend he met on the beach was in acting. After days of Alex begging his parents to let him become an actor, his persistence persuaded them to get that boy’s talent agency information. A few weeks later the Ferris’ were back in Vancouver and life seemingly returned back to normal. However, Alex’s acting dreams did not fade. He approached his mother with a letter that said, “Dear Agent, I am a very cute boy, I am smart, and you should hire me- Alex Ferris.” After such an adorable attempt, Alex’s mother couldn’t refuse sending the letter and a photo to the agency. The letter worked and his acting career officially began at the ripe young age of seven.

Alex booked his very first audition, which was for THE FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET IN HEAVEN in the opening scene opposite legendary actor Jon Voight. From that moment on, Alex was hooked and his acting career took on a life of its own. He booked film after film, landing supporting roles in blockbuster features such as: RV with Robin Williams, THE INVISIBLE for Disney, X:MEN: THE LAST STAND, RUNAWAY VACATION, MEMORY, and Brett Ratner’s sci-fi epic X3. Alex went on to excel in television as well as film, booking recurring roles in series such as the successful Showtime series THE L WORD as “Wilson,” and TERMINAL CITY, with guest star roles on HARPERS ISLAND, STARGATE SGI, SMALLVILLE, ZIXX: LEVEL III, MASTERS OF HORROR II, and SUPERNATURAL. In 2009, Alex landed one of his most recognized roles to date, appearing alongside Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams as “Young Henry” in New Line Cinemas THE TIME TRAVELER’S WIFE. The film gave Alex a serious buzz in the entertainment business, as his portrayal of a younger “Henry DeTamble” (played by Eric Bana) was noted by some media as one of the most real and affectionate performances out of the whole cast. Now, in 2010 Alex can be seen as “Collin” in the highly anticipated, Twentieth Century Fox Film DIARY OF A WIMPY KID. Adapted from the New York Times bestselling series by Jeff Kinney, the film will premiere in March 2010.

This is just the beginning for Alex Ferris, who time and time again proves his phenomenal acting abilities in diverse television and film roles, while growing into a young actor who is laying the groundwork to stand the test of time in the entertainment business. Alex currently attends a regular school where he is on the student council and receives straight A’s. His favorite television shows are MILLION DOLLAR LISTING and HARPER’S ISLAND. He lives in Vancouver with his parents Shelley and Craig, siblings Jack and Bronwyn, two Scottie dogs Audrey and Roger, his cat Murray and the family horse Nelle.
