‘Grey’s,’ ‘Supernatural’ sign off for the season

SPEAKING OF SHOWS I’m struggling with these days, “Supernatural” wraps up its fifth season tonight (8 p.m., CW/Ch. 30).

This has consistently been one of TV’s best. But it has, of late, become so dark it’s not nearly so much fun anymore.

I know, I know. We’ve been building up to this big finale in which Satan himself might be unbound. But with brothers Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) at odds, we’ve lost that brotherly relationship that was the backbone of the series. And what’s supposed to be suspenseful hasn’t played out as well as we might have hoped.

Plus, once you’ve done the devil, where do you go from there?

Ah, well. This show has successfully reinvented its mythology time after time, so all hope isn’t lost.
