Ten to premiere ‘Supernatural’ online

Supernatural, Jared Padalecki, wb, cast Aussie terrestrial web Network Ten has inked with Warner Bros. to preem the new series of “Supernatural” online, five days ahead of its bow on Ten.

For added value, season two will be packaged with the series finale of “Supernatural’s” first outing.

The deal, an Aussie first, shows the increasing importance of downloads, which all the webs have been experimenting with as auds begin to fragment.

Jeffrey Schlesinger, topper of Warner Bros. Intl. Television, believes the strategy will generate buzz for the hit Stateside skein.

“The digital landscape provides immense opportunity to generate excitement for series prior to premiere and beyond,” Schlesinger said. “In many ways, ‘Supernatural’ is the perfect fit for offering early download as fans tend to be exceedingly active online.”

“Supernatural” downloads will be available from 5 p.m. on Thursday and each episode will be available from midnight of the night of broadcast.

Ten had success last year with downloads of its hit skein “Thank God You’re Here.”
